On October 8th, 2009, the Brazilian Navy announced that it had signed a contract with a national shipbuilder for the construction of four additional 500-ton patrol vessels of the CMN-designed NPa500 type.
As a reminder, the first two units have been realised during the last three years by INACE, another local shipyard, under CMN technical control.
